P.A.L. SOKKO RULES

I. DEFENSE
1.     Each team will play with nine players on the field (less if necessary) can start with seven..
2.     Each team is allowed free substitutions BETWEEN INNINGS.
3.     Only a player within the infield square of the bases may return the ball to the pitcher.
4.     Catchers must wear a mask. Only catchers and 1st baseman are allowed to use 1st  base glove.
5.     Only rubber molded cleats or tennis shoes are to be used on the field.
6.     A ball hit in fair territory, but not past the pitchers box, is alive until it comes to a complete stop.
7.     A ball hit beyond the pitchers box that rolls back into the box is considered fair. On the line is also considered fair.
8.     Home team is responsible for officials. Home team is official scorekeeper.
9.     Infield fly rule and all other ASA rules apply. (Infield fly rule does not apply to JV )
10.    Visiting team immediately takes the field for warm-ups upon arrival for the minutes.
11.    Defense may not block bases from runners except when making a play with the ball.
 
II. OFFENSE
1.     Each team's batting order will consist of the entire team. Coaches should exchange batting orders.
2.     Bat until there are three outs in your half of the inning.
3.     The team at bat provides a pitcher who must wear a glove. The pitcher must stand in the pitching box, in line with 2nd base and home plate.
4.     Only Official Little League or softball bats are allowed.
5.     If a batted ball hits the pitcher the play is ruled dead. REPLAY the pitch. The pitcher is allowed to protect himself/herself.
6.     Only the first pitcher of every inning is allowed two warm-up pitches.
7.     The batter is allowed three pitches. If the batter fails to hit a fair ball after three pitches, it is ruled a strikeout.
8.     There are no walks, steals, bunts, or lead-offs.
9.     Runners may not leave base until the ball is hit. Courtesy Steps are allowed if batter swings and misses. Runners leaving early will be called out.
10.    Batters must attempt to make a full swing, or a strike is recorded.
11.    If the batter steps on the plate while making contact with the ball, the batter is out.
12.    Runners may not slide.
13.    There are no pinch runners or hitters unless replacing an injured player. The injured player may not return to the game.
14.    The ten run rule applies after five innings or until everyone has batted.
 l5.    Helmets recommended but optional. Catchers mask required.
 
16.     Coaches may pitch to his/her team.
17.      Pitching distance is at coaches discretion and must be lined up in a straight line from second to home.
 
III. REMINDERS
1.     Give the roster and numbers of players to the score keeper of both teams.
2.     Games are played for one hour or seven innings, whichever comes first. In a tie play until the tie is broken.
3.     Bases sixty feet, pitching box 30 feet.
4.     All players must be on team rosters during the league to be eligible to play in tournaments. No players may be added just for league tournaments.
5.     All teams must specify whether they will have two or more teams, J.V.
or Varsity for league and tournaments. Teams may not be added for tournaments.
6.    During the tournament each team is responsible for having an umpire for each of their games.
7.    During the tournament there may not be infield practice as we must keep the tournament on time.
